Hello! Thank you for stopping by the About Page.
As you may have learned from my sidebar, I am Matthew Rudas.
I have been a few things, a USC Trojan studying economics and songwriting, a music journalist at LiveNation and EarlyRising, and a law student at UCLA School of Law. However, with an ever-growing knack for the creative, I quickly (and luckily) found out that a life as an attorney was not the life for me.
Thanks to the accessibility of the Google UX Course and with the grace of my extremely talented friends in tech, I was able to test the waters of the world of design and I am forever grateful that I did. Design literature (most importantly User Friendly by Cliff Kuang), user reserach, and visual design, ignited a new hope that made me think work could end up being something I enjoyed (an idea that was beginning to seem too good to be true.)
I fantacize about designing a user-friendly world that considers the fundamental goals and underlying ethics of user-centric design. I aspire to design applications, products, websites, and a world that allows users to become more human -- to uncover their greatest self, find more leisure, and to achieve high order desires. I see design as the most future-oriented opportunity to create a world I will be proud to pass on to future generations and most proud to have a role in shaping.
On a more personal note, I am a fan of many things, most fundamentally, The Beatles (Magical Mystery Tour), Haruki Murakami novels (currently getting through 1Q84), cats (in all shapes and forms), acoustic guitar (with a capo on the 4th fret), singing (loudly), candles (winter-scented), video games (mostly desktop) and pen-drawings (mostly not very good). If we ever get the chance to chat, please ask me about all of the above and more.
best wishes
Matthew Rudas
